Expansion on three trade fairs, a 30% increase in participants at Formnext 2018 against 2017 reveals not just a great success of the seminar series Discover3Dprinting, but also that the relevance of the topic Additive Manufacturing grew very fast in many industrial sectors.
From November 13 to 16 a total of 270 participants from 32 countries attended Discover3Dprinting at Formnext 2018. Formnext 2018 in total hosted 632 exhibitors and 26.919 visitors from all over the world. In the seminars there were attendees from an ever-increasing range of sectors, including automotive, aerospace, machine building, electrical engineering, telecommunications, electronics, MedTech, the chemical and the building industries, mining, defense, as well as research and education. The year 2018 also marked the successful extension of the seminars to other trade shows, like PCIM (power electronics), ACHEMA, (chemical process industry) and Automechanika (automotive industry). Since its introduction at Formnext, in November 2017, the seminar series has already attracted a total of 700 participants.
Formnext created Discover3Dprinting in cooperation with the ACAM Aachen Center for Additive Manufacturing with the aim to provide basic knowledge for those who are considering to adopt Additive Manufacturing in their industrial processes. Its format is arranged in two segments: the program starts with a two-hour lecture, which ranges from a broad overview of the Additive Manufacturing technologies to approaches of how they can be integrated profitably, guiding the participants with successful implementation examples that also emphasize the obstacles that can occur. After the lecture, the participants have the opportunity to get an individual consultation with the ACAM experts to deepen specific questions, as well as to discuss further topics.
Andrea Bernard from Spark Associates SAS participated in the seminar at Formnext this year. “A profound and hands-on overview of current AM technologies and applications, presented in a very easy-to-follow style.”, she said. “Highly recommended seminar.”
Discover3Dprinting expands even more in 2019
Formnext goes beyond its trade fair roots to deliver Additive Manufacturing know-how directly at companies’ sites, by offering its partners the possibility to host the seminar series. Thereby the visitors will benefit from seeing an Additive Manufacturing plant firsthand, while ACAM experts show the newest developments and give a broad overview of Additive Manufacturing possibilities for industrial production. More details will be released in January 2019.
